Nuovo Pignone steam turbines utilize a hybrid design combining impulse and reaction stages. The impulse stage, with partial or full arc admission, controls the steam flow efficiently over a wide flow range, while the reaction stages give the highest steam expansion efficiency. The combination of one impulse stage with reaction stages produces top steam turbine performance over a wide range of steam flow and speed.
