This book was prepared for a course in the mechanics of deformable bodies at the authors’ institution, and is at a level suitable for advanced undergraduate or first-year graduate students. This book divided into 10 Chapters as follow; chapter 1 basic principles of stress and strains, introduction stress definition, properties, properties of planar stress systems, displacements and strains in a continum, relation between stress and strains, strain energy. Chapter 2. Equations of the theory of elasticity, Equations of elastictiy, plate stress and plane strains, a techniques theorem, equation of equilibrium in trems of displacement, Equations of hydrodynamics and elasticity. Chapter 3 Applications to beam, extensions of a bar, the technical theory of bending, moving load on a bean on an elastic foundation. Chapter 4. Elastic Instability. Chapter 5 Applications to axially symmetrical problems, curved beams and stress concentrations. Chapter 6 Applications to torsion problems, Chapter 7 Applications to plates and shells. Chapter 8 Applications to Viscous and Plastic Behavior of Materials, Chapter 9 Elastic Wave Propagation, Chapter 10 Numerical Methods. Appendix.
