In this chapter we are creating organic shapes to make a restaurant interior wall more interesting. The commands and techniques in this lesson will appear familiar if you have followed the previous lessons. If required steps in this lesson have been discussed in detail in an earlier lesson, they will be referenced only briefly here. Part 1: Smooth imported splines, Part 2: Form organic wall shape, Part 3: Create organic ceiling form. Exercise: Smooth splines, Create more points for Rectangle, Create organic shape using Loft NURBS and Extrude, Create ceiling element with Lathe NURBS and Extrude. Start ArchiCAD and open the downloaded InteriorDraft.pln file. Go to the 3D window and click the ‘Create new Object with MaxonForm’ command in the Tools/MaxonForm menu. Before opening WallDesignSplines.dxf in MaxonForm you might want to check the DXF importing preferences by choosing the Preferences command
in Edit menu. The spline defining points are distributed rather unevenly. It might cause problems when creating complex surfaces, as we will in this chapter. In order to avoid these problems, we will optimize some settings. Choose the Optimize command in the Functions menu and set 38 mm in the appearing dialog.
