Nonlinear contact analysis of an O-Ring. A 5-inch circular vacuum chamber is sealed by an O-ring of a rubber like material. Due to the axial symmetry of model, the analysis is performed on a wedge of 1 degree angle. The O ring is compressed into the groove by the top plate. The groove and the top plate are made of AISI 304 steel. TO Create and set the properties of a non-linear study: click the COSMOS AnalysisManager tab, Create a non linear static study with solid mesh, right click the study icon and select properties of the non linear study as follows. Assigning Material properties, Applying symmetry restraints, Restraining the Model in the Radial Direction, Restraining the Bottom Face of the model. Defining contact between model faces. Meshing the model and running the analysis. Viewing result.
