By default, many Windows Mobile Smartphone devices are shipped with a SIMLock. This cripples the phone to work only with a particular operators SIM card. For example, a C500 sold by Orange will not accept an O2 SIM-card. Application Unlock Your Phone
In order to use the SIMLock disabling tools, your phone needs to be application unlocked. If you have not already done so, follow the steps in the HTC Application Unlock Guide.
