Step 1.1: Creating the Floor Slab Technical Summary 1. The tutorial opens up with the document window, which needs to be reduced in order to manage watching the QuickTime videos and performing the tasks. 2. In order to retrieve any toolbar palette to use working in the window, you must go to “window/palettes/…” In this case the tutorial requires you select “Favourites” from the drop down menu selections. 3. Place the Favourites on the right hand side underneath the navigator palette. 4. Repeat this process for the “Coordinates” and “Control Box” palettes. 5. If you wish, instead of using the QuickTime movie player, you can also use the ArchiCAD movie player on screen to view the tutorials. Move to the “Option menu/ArchiCAD movie player.” 6. Have the “View Map” visible in the navigator palette, in order to view the folders and files required for the tutorial. 7. Select the “Chapter 1” folder from the navigator, and then activate the “Create Floor Slab” file. 8. Activate the “Slab” tool from the “ToolBox” palette, which will open the “Slab Default Settings” dialogue box. Click the favourites button and select the predefined slab “Slab – 01” option to choose those properties for your own slab. 9. Activate the “Rectangular Geometry Method” in the geometry box within the info box palette.
