First begin by removing the existing emblem on the trunk hatch lid. This emblem is attached with a sticky foam or adhesive. It can be removed with the following procedure, but go slowly and be careful so as to not scratch the hatch lid. If in doubt, see your local VW dealer and ask them to remove the emblem.
1. Place one of the supplied cardboard pieces against the hatch lid and up tight next to the lower edge of the emblem (Figure 1A).
2. Slide a small flat blade screwdriver in between the cardboard and under the edge of the emblem. Slowly push the screw driver in under the emblem (Figure 1B) being sure not to let the cardboard slide, as this can scuff the paint.
